Nestled between the mountains of the picturesque Erasmuskloof outside Graaff-Reinet, Herdershuisie is a recent addition to Waterval farmstay. This fully equipped self-catering unit contains all the essentials you’ll need for an amazing stay on the farm. The unit is made up of two bedrooms, a massive kitchen with an indoor braai and separate living room with its own fire place.
The name of the unit derives from the days when it was a shepherd’s house. In the evenings, the shepherd would bring the sheep to the kraal before returning to his dwelling nearby. We started to renovate the unit early in July 2017, with the aim of keeping its rustic look whilst still providing all the comforts needed for an exceptional stay on the farm.
The front door of the unit overlooks the kraal where the sheep still sleep in the evening, providing unparalleled views of the starry skies. Come and unwind and experience the tranquillity that only the Karoo can offer.
